I just got a Hp Pavillion laptop and when I first turned it on I was having trouble with my wirless button. Then I tried this and it worked!!! Hope this helps!

How to I turn the wireless lan button back on after it has been disabled?

Oct 15, 2008 – Thanks for trying, but the wireless adapter is enabled, it’s the wireless LAN button that is disabled. If I push this button, it does not respond. I am also unable to enable it through HP Wireless Assistant.

Oct 25, 2008 – After one month of trying everything, I finally figures this one out. First turn off and restart your computer. Then press F10 to enter the System BIOS Settings. Select F9 (Setup Defaults) and when it asks Load Default Configuration Now? , Enter YES. Then, press F10 (Save and Exit) and when it asks Save Configuration Changes And Exit Now, Enter YES. This should restore the wireless LAN button to its original factory settings. Once you restart the computer the button will be listed as disabled, but press on the button and it should work again. I hope this helps someone else out!

Same Problem:

Mar 14, 2009 – Thanks for the post. My sis-in-law had the same problem and I couldn’t figure it out. Set the BIOS back to defaults and that did the trick. (DId have to turn the WLAN radio back on, but that was it.) – Guest

Dec 27, 2008 – The wireless network symbol stays orange even when the wireless is enabled (says “on”). This prevents the computer from accessing any networks and I can’t get online. – pkreadsalot
